Atherosclerosis
 Atherosclerosis, sometimes called “hardening of the arteries,” occurs
when cholesterol, calcium, and other substances build up in the inner lining of
the arteries, forming a material called plaque. Over time, plaque buildup
narrows the artery and blocks blood flow through it.
