National High Blood Pressure Education Month

There are certain lifestyle choices that can contribute to high blood pressure such as smoking, drinking and not getting enough exercise. There are also other factors such as gender, race/ethnicity and age. These conditions and habits are serious risk factors for high blood pressure.

Almost one third of people with high blood pressure don't know that they have it, which is why it is referred to as the ‘silent killer.' That is why it is important to get your blood pressure checked regularly, even when you don't feel sick. Being pro-active can help save you from a heart attack or stroke.
